Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What is tripku about?
  2. Check out our about page to learn more about tripku and the inspiration behind it.

  3. What is a tripku?
  4. While tripku is the name of our site, we also use the term tripku to refer to each user-planned trip. For example, you might be planning one tripku to Australia, and another tripku to Thailand. Each tripku has a landing page that shows you the trip information and itinerary, who has already joined the trip, and the latest comments about the trip.

  5. What is a tripkuer?
  6. A tripkuer is another name for a tripku user. These folks are so cool, we thought they deserved their own name!

  7. I have a technical problem, or an idea to improve tripku. Who should I contact?
  8. Shoot us an email at feedback@tripku.com We are always looking for ways to improve tripku!

  9. How does tripku work?
  10. It’s simple. Once you join tripku, there are two things you can do, Browse through and join one of the trips being planned by other tripkuers, or create your own tripku. Once you have a tripku, you can invite other tripkuers, or people from your own personal networks to join you. The next step is planning the details of your trip, which you can discuss with other attendees on your tripku page.

  11. What if I change my mind about a trip? How do I unjoin a tripku?
  12. While the tripku is still open, you can unjoin it by clicking the unjoin button. Once the tripku is closed you cannot unjoin anymore. In this case drop us an email to info@tripku.com with subject "Unjoin" and the name of the tripku and we will do the job for you.

  13. What does it mean to close a tripku?
  14. Closing a tripku can only be done by the person who created it. Once you feel your tripku has enough members, and you’ve worked out the basic plans, you have the option to “close” it. This means that no more members can join, and the travel dates can no longer be changed. Once you’ve closed the group, the tripku team will take a look and see if we can match you with a travel package for the exact time and location you’re looking for.

  15. Once I receive an offer for a travel package, am I obligated to buy it or pay some kind of fee?
  16. Nope, it’s a totally free service. You only pay for the price of the trip if you opt to choose the package. Of course, the offers will be so good, we think you’ll find them hard to refuse!

  17. Is it a good idea to travel with strangers?
  18. Of course! Tripku is all about meeting new people and sharing travel experiences. And, members of the tripku aren’t just any strangers, they are people who share a passion for adventure, and seeing the world! And what is more, you will have the possibility to know them while organizing the tripku.

That said, privacy settings features are in the works. So, if you want to create a tripku just for you and your friends, you’ll be able to do that soon.
